Scanning In the Library using the Konica Minolta Color Copier/Scanner
You can now scan a PDF or TIFF file using the color scanner/copier. Library and IT staff are available if you need further assistance.

How to Scan from the Photocopier
• Lift cover and place book or other media on scanner surface
• Press the Fax/Scan button
• On the touchscreen, Press the Address Book tab
• Press the “PC (SMB) Color” button on the touch screen pad making sure that the file path displays in the black space. Your file will be given a default name; you can access the file by going to the ScanLibrary folder on the T drive (see below).
• Indicate the desired size and page orientation
• Press OK
• Press the Start button to scan the image
• The file will be located in the following directory:
T:\ScanLibrary\Color
Scanning with Microtek Scanmaker 9800XL
• Put the original face down on the scanner glass bed.
• Click Start → Programs → Adobe Photoshop CS5 → File → Import → Microtek Scan Wizard Pro. ScanWizard Pro is started from Adobe Photoshop CS5.

• Preview window opens. This window displays an overview scan of the original.
• Click the Overview button. A low-resolution preview image appears in the Preview window.
• Select the Scan Frame tool from the toolbar in the preview window and select the area to be scanned by dragging the flashing frame rectangle (marquee) around it.
• Choose the image resolution. Go to the Settings window and enter the resolution value in the Resolution edit box. A resolution of 300 ppi is recommended for most scans.
• Click the Scan button to start scanning.
• The image is delivered to Adobe Photoshop.
Important: You must close the ScanWizard Pro software before you can edit and save the image.

Printing In The Library
• The library is equipped with many options for printing documents and files in both color and black and white. Choose the file to print and a suitable printer location.
• Consult the set of instructions posted on the wall above the computer terminals in the library. It contains a handy guide for basic printing jobs.
• Find the drop-down menu and select the optimal printer location:
• Always be certain of the location and the document in an effort to conserve paper and ink resources.
• Click OK
Photocopiers
• A wide array of photocopying possibilities are available for students who need facsimiles of both Black and White or Color images from items in the NYSID library collection.
• Copy cards cost $1 and are available in the vending machine in the library. Copy cards should be retained for further use in the future.
• Several formatting options are available for your document. Insert copy card and indicate the desired format using the touch screen.
• Press Start.
