Who can use the NYSID Library
- The NYSID Library is available for use by current students, faculty and staff of the institution. Matriculating, degree-seeking students of NYSID, faculty, and staff may borrow books and must present an updated NYSID ID to library staff for check-out of materials.
- Matriculating, degree-seeking students of New York University and Parsons, the New School, have both use and book check-out privileges at the NYSID library as members of the BobCat consortium. Audiovisual item checkout is only available to NYSID students and faculty.
- Members of other area institutions that are members of Metro may use the NYSID library collections by obtaining a Metro pass from their institution and presenting it to NYSID library staff.
Check out, fines and penalties
- Books may be checked out for 28 days, with one 28-day renewal. Go to the Renew Your Books page for more information on renewing books. Audiovisual materials may be checked out for 7 days, and renewal is not allowed.
- Materials that are not available for check-out include periodicals, special collections items and books marked “Library Use Only.”
- Undergraduates with check out privileges in good standing may check out up to 10 items; graduate students and faculty with check out privileges in good standing may check out up to 15 items.
- Fines are assessed for undergraduate and graduate students at .25 cents per day, $1 per hour for reserves and $1 per day for recalled books and audiovisual material. The fee for a lost book is $105 replacement and processing. Fines and fees totaling over $20 may result in a registration block at NYSID.
NOTICE: Any destructive act toward books, magazines and other library property such as writing on or removing pages and images is subject to replacement fines and possible dismissal.
